New Patient Onboarding Guide for Persona IQ® The Smart Knee
Set up your mymobility® account
Set up your account in the mymobility application
Once you and your surgeon have decided to move forward with Persona IQ, your care team will enroll you in mymobility. You will receive a text message with a link and instructions on how to set up your mymobility account. Once your account is set up and you are logged into the mymobility app, you will see a “Start Your Persona IQ Setup” section at the top of the mymobility home page. Tap or click this section to begin the setup process. After completing these steps, log in to the Canary Medical App and follow the instructions below to connect your Home Base Station to your home’s Wi-Fi network.

Set up your Home Base Station
Identify your Home Base Station model
The setup process will vary depending on the Home Base Station you have. Please follow the instructions below indicated for the Home Base Station you received:
- Home Base Station 1 (Yellow Bird Logo) → Requires the Base Station Setup Tool (installed on a computer).
- Bluetooth Home Base Station (White Bird Logo) → Requires the Canary Medical App (installed on a smartphone).
Download and install the required software
For Home Base Stations with a Yellow Bird Logo:
- Download and install the Base Station Setup Tool on your computer.
- macOS: Download from the App Store
- Windows/PC: Download from the Microsoft Store
For Home Base Stations with a White Bird Logo:
- Download and install the Canary Medical App on your smartphone.
- iPhone: Download from the App Store
- Android: Download from Google Play
Complete the Home Base Station set up in the Canary® application
Once you finish setting up your account in mymobility, you will be guided to leave the mymobility app to finish setting up your Home Base Station in the Canary application. Follow the in-app instructions in the Base Station Setup Tool (desktop) or the Canary Medical App (iOS/Android) to complete the installation and configuration process.

Glossary
Cadence
The steps you take per minute, as measured by the CHIRP system.
Caregiver
An adult family member, friend, or personal assistant who can help you with your care and who you allow to have access to your personal and health information.
CHIRP® system for CSE
This stands for Canary Health Implanted Reporting Processor. This is the software and electronics found within your . The software and electronics collect information on your activity level and quality of movement after you receive your new knee.
CSE
Canturio® Smart Extension. The CSE is a part of the knee implant that will help to stabilize your new knee. It also contains software and electronics that will collect information about your activity level and how well you walk immediately after surgery and over a long period of time.
CHIRP® system for CTE
This stands for Canary Health Implanted Reporting Processor. This is the software and electronics found within your CTE knee implant. The software and electronics collect information on your activity level and quality of movement after you receive your new knee.
CTE
Canturio® Tibial Extension. The CTE is a part of the knee implant that will help to stabilize your new knee. It also contains software and electronics that will collect information about your activity level and how well you walk immediately after surgery and over a long period of time.
Distance
This is how far you have walked in miles on a given day as measured by the CHIRP system.
EHR
Electronic Health Record. This is the medical information stored electronically by your doctor’s office and in your Patient Account. You have the right to access this information.
Gait
Refers to the manner or way in which a person walks.
Home Base Station
The unit placed in your home which collects activity information from your knee implant and sends it to a website, where you and your doctor view it.
Mobile Application
A smartphone application you may download from your phone’s application store to setup your Home Base Station (Home Base Station (Bluetooth®) only) and view information collected by the CSE and CHIRP system. Please note that the data collected each day will not be available on the dashboard until the following day.
Patient Dashboard
Your page where you log in on the Canary Medical website to view information collected by the CSE and CHIRP system. Please note that the data collected each day will not be available on the dashboard until the following day.
Prosthesis
Medical term for your knee implant.
Range of Motion
This is a measure of how much your knee can bend and straighten.
Qualified Step Count
The number of steps you take during the most active part of your day.
Stride
The amount of distance covered between the time when one foot hits the ground and then the same foot hits the ground again.
USB Cable
A cable shipped with your CHIRP Home Base Station that allows it to connect with your computer.
TKA
Total Knee Arthroplasty. Also called total knee replacement. This is the replacement of your natural knee joint with an implant (prosthesis).
Walking Speed
This is a measure of how far you walk over a period of time.
